The official Jelly Pro, which claims to be the world's smallest LTE smartphone, has finally been released in Japan. The manufacturer is China's Unihertz. In May 2017, when the US crowdfunding site "Kichstarter" solicited investment, the goal of $30,000 was achieved in 57 minutes, attracting attention.
"Jelly Pro" (Sky Blue) released in JapanIn Japan, the product sold on Amazon.co.jp is genuine and technically conforming (certification of technical standards conformity, etc.) has also been obtained. The price on Amazon.co.jp is 13,799 yen (tax included), but as of February 22, all three colors of pearl white, sky blue, and space black are out of stock. The buyer is listing it for 29,890 yen.
When I checked in the early hours of February 20, it was still in stock, so I bought it without thinking. I wanted to try the size, and since it was in the low 10,000 yen range, I thought it would be a good idea to try it.
Let's unpack
The product arrived on the 20th, so I opened it. When I first saw it, it was so small that I was surprised, thinking, "Is this really a smartphone?" The size is 43 (width) x 92.4 (height) x 13 (depth) mm, and you can see how small it is compared to the current smartphones, which are often around 70mm wide. "It fits in the palm of your hand" is exactly that, it feels like a toy (a compliment). It fits easily in your pocket as well as in your inner shirt pocket. Be careful not to drop it, though.
It weighs 60.4g, which is a decent weight, but if it's too light, it loses its grip, so I think it's just the right weight.
Compared with "iPhone X". It's the size difference between an adult and a childCompared to "premini-II" (center) and "P252iS" (right), which are in the small category even for feature phonesAccessories User guide, pick to remove back cover, Micro USB cable. No AC adapter or earphones. In addition, there is a 12-month warranty period, and if the terminal is damaged within the period, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge.

When I press the button, there is no reaction at all. It won't charge when I plug in the Micro USB cable. Is the battery not installed properly? When I opened the back cover, I found that the battery was still in the bag.
The battery was in a bagWhen the battery is removed, the technical conformity mark and the microSD/nanoSIM slot appear. By the way, the Jelly Pro's back cover can only be removed using the included pick. Putting a pick in the recess on the bottom right and turning it around once more will not remove it, so it takes a lot of time and effort.
Stick the included pick in the indentation of the terminal and move around the perimeter to remove the cover with a snapThe technical conformity mark and number are clearly marked >Two SIM slots and a microSD slotThe battery pack can be removed. Capacity is as low as 950mAhBasic specs
OS is Android 7.0, main memory is 2GB, internal storage is 16GB, battery capacity is 950mAh, processor is MediaTek's "MT6737T" (1.1 GHz 4 cores). The display is 2.45 type with 240 x 432 pixels. The camera has 8 million pixels for out and 2 million pixels for in. It also has a 3.5mm earphone jack. LTE support bands are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 19, 20 for FDD-LTE, and 40 for TD-LTE. There is also an unmarked "Jelly", but the difference is that Jelly has 1GB of memory and 8GB of storage. The fact that the Jelly Pro has 2GB of memory is reassuring for comfortable operation.
[Updated: February 23, 2018 13:22 There was a confusing description about the difference between Jelly and Jelly Pro, so some corrections were made]

Clear key on the left, task key on the rightAs an aside, when a new overseas manufacturer launches a smartphone in Japan, we often see troubles related to the Technical Conformity Mark. In UPQ Phone A01 and Flame, there was an error in the display of the technical conformity mark, and the product was recalled. However, as far as Jelly Pro's technical conformity mark is concerned, there seems to be no display error seen in UPQ and Flame.
In that case, I also want to check whether I have really acquired the technical suit in the first place. You can search for products by technical conformity certification number on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Is it because the product is still new? When I sent an email to Unihertz to confirm, I got an automatic response saying, "Until February 22nd, I will be out of the office for the Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year)." When I contacted the Telecommunications Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, I found that Jelly Pro's number was not registered in the ministry's database. yeah? It's getting a little cloudy...
Jelly Pro's technical standards conformity certification number is "205-170308". This number starting with "205" was registered by an overseas certification body, and there is a slight time lag in reporting to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. According to the person in charge, a number close to 205-170308 was reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in mid-February. This number was registered by an overseas certification body in December 2017. Unihertz has reported on its official Twitter account that it has acquired the technical suit on January 9, 2018, so it seems likely that a report will be sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications around March.
……As I wrote this far, I received a reply from Unihertz. "We have already acquired the Japanese certificate for Jelly Pro." Also, Amazon.co.jp is currently out of stock, but it will be restocked soon.
I put the battery back in and turned it on. It has also been confirmed that data communication was possible by inserting a docomo line SIM (honke sp mode or MVNO). Of course, I was able to make calls without any problems. "VoLTE" is displayed in the pictogram area, and it seems that you can also make calls with VoLTE. I would like to carefully review the actual usability from now on.
